The development of mathematical models for
the design of magnetic devices requires a thorough understanding
of hysteresis. The classical Preisach model provided such an
understanding but is unable to emulate all the properties of
magnetic materials. In this paper, we summarize some of the
modifications that have been proposed within the context of
Preisach modelling in order to explain the observed phenomena.
