Repository Policy

Our Green Open Access Policy, which applies to all hybrid AIMS journals, is primarily designed to support open access for articles that are otherwise only available by subscription or other payment.

Green Open Access Policy

We comply fully with the open access requirements of UKRI, Wellcome, and NIHR.

Where required by their funder, authors retain the right to distribute their accepted manuscript, such as via an institutional and/or subject repository (e.g. Europe PMC), under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license for release no later than the date of first online publication.

Definitions:

Preprint: The version of the article before peer review or editing, as submitted by an author.

Accepted Manuscript: The version of the article that is accepted for publication including all peer review changes.

Version of Record: The version of the article that is formally published. This includes all Online First articles, so long as it is citable via a permanent identifying Digital Object Identifier (DOI).

Repository Requirements:

Authors that deposit accepted manuscripts in repositories must follow the requirements below to maximize the readership and citation of the final Version of Record.

  1. 1. If the article has not been published, include a clear statement about the material being accepted for publication in a revised form and link to the journal’s site on aimsciences.org.

Statement example: “This article has been accepted for publication in a revised form in [Journal Title] [Link to journal site]. This version is free to download for private research and study only. Not for redistribution, re-sale or use in derivative works.”

  1. 2. If the article has been published, include a clear statement about the material being published in a revised form and link to the article’s Version of Record on aimsciences.org.

Statement example: “This article has been published in a revised form in [Journal Title] [http://dx.doi.org/XXX]. This version is free to download for private research and study only. Not for redistribution, re-sale or use in derivative works.”

Depositing Preprints:

Prior to acceptance for publication, authors retain the right to make a preprint version of the article available via preprint servers and other early sharing platforms such as personal/affiliation websites. We ask authors to include a clear statement about the material being accepted for publication in a revised form. AIMS does not require preprints to be removed from these sites after the article is accepted or published, but we do ask authors to add a DOI link to the Version of Record if possible.

    • Statement example: “This is the version of the article before peer review or editing, as submitted by an author to [Journal Title] [Link to journal site]. AIMS is not responsible for any errors or omissions in this version of the manuscript, or any version derived from it.”
